Jon Terry Profile

Jon Terry

Jon ran away from the glamour of accountancy to become an actor and he’s never been busier. One of the highlights has been two successive years at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in plays which both received 4 star reviews and then toured locally.

During 2022 he has played the lead in a new production written and directed by Philip Ayckbourn, played the dastardly Elyot in Noel Coward’s “Private Lives” and played the evil Nazi “Von Pfunz” in Ignite Theatre’s much acclaimed production of “Gabriel”.

He has greatly enjoyed the new challenges of working on Granma’s Grimms and the professionalism and commitment of all the Ignite Team.

Charles is an actor and writer who is currently finishing his MA in Text & Performance with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts & Birkbeck College.

His credits at RADA include “Flesh” and “Error_404!” in which he was both co-writer and performer.

Ellie Wasylocha Profile

Ellie Wasylocha

As an Acting graduate fresh out of Arts University Bournemouth, I have recently moved to Brighton & Hove with my partner to establish myself as a performer.

University facilitated my growth as an actor, thinker and a person. Through my Zen meditation practice and Sanford Meisner's acting techniques, I have continued to find ways of breaking through self-consciousness and find success as an actor. For me, performance is most alive when lived in dynamic responsiveness with our collaborators and audience, and so my personal ethos emphasises the art of play, through which we can discover an authentic, engaging and truth-telling performance.

I’m excited to work with Ignite Theatre in Newhaven, immerse myself into the process of our production and establish connections with my new fellow creatives!

Hana Vincent Profile

Hana Vincent

Hana Vincent spent her childhood and teens training and performing with Seaford Youth Drama appearing in pop-up street theatre’s, summer and Christmas shows and annually at the Eastbourne Festival.

Since then she has appeared at the Seaford Little Theatre before a long hiatus - over a decade - to focus on her career and family before deciding to tip her toe back in with this Christmas performance of The Wind in the Willows.

Amanda Brimble Profile

Amanda Brimble

It's been a while since I last 'trod the boards' (36 years to be precise, way back when in an amateur performance of 'Road' with the Croydon Youth Theatre... wow, doesn't time fly!) And now that Ignite have rekindled my passion for the theatre, here I go again - wish me luck!

Helena Jevons Profile

Helena Jevons

Helena cut her acting teeth as a teenager playing small feminine roles like Macbeth and Henry Higgins at an all girls’ grammar school. She was hard to keep off stages after that although she does like to occasionally play an actual woman - her favourite role ever was madcap Bobbie in Neil Simon’s Last of the Red Hot Lovers.

She lives in seaford with her two young children, plays guitar pretty badly and salsas pretty well.

This is her first acting gig post motherhood and she hopes she can remember what she is doing.

To pay the bills she consults with local businesses from the University Business Incubator at Sussex University at Falmer and builds websites for local start ups.

David Hallett Profile

David Hallett

Following careers in teaching and I.T., David retired to the Sussex village of Piddinghoe, and has since appeared in several productions in and around Newhaven including Jarvis in MAD’s Chorus of Disapproval, Albert in Lewes Little Theatre’s Accolade, Smith in Seaford Little Theatre‘s Murder on the Nile, and in Synergy productions as Sir Robert Morton in The Wilmslow Boy and Dr. Chasuble in Importance of Being Ernest.

Haven Young Creatives Profile

Haven Young Creatives

HYC came out of a Research & Development project in 2021, for young people, funded by Arts Council England about living in Newhaven. A grant was applied for as it was felt there was a huge lack of arts opportunities/ training for young people. The result was a short film.

Since then we are building Haven Young Creatives, aiming to produce & run arts projects for young people in the Havens, & give them a voice. We want to develop their capacity and skills to co-create theatre in their community. Exploring themes, which are owned by the young people themselves.

We are currently running FREE Drama sessions & starting an Inter generational Arts Project in January called BOOMTEEN collaborating with Sara Clifford, a writer who has worked in Newhaven creating immersive theatre for 10yrs. We want to raise their aspirations, encouraging them to make positive choices building confidence, resilience & communication skills through Drama, as a creative tool. They can learn to work together in a safe space, to collaborate in a fun way.

This inspired me to check out one of the old full length films all done with shadow puppetry 'The Adventures of Prince Achmed from 1926.
